Are you new to roleplaying, or just want to know more about the club? If so, this should provide some answers.

What is Roleplaying?

Roleplaying games are a mix of collaborative storytelling and tabletop gaming. You can think of it like playing a character in a movie, play or book, except that you get to decide what your character says and does.

The most widely known roleplaying game is Dungeons & Dragons, but there is a wide variety of roleplaying games that support many different genres and styles.

Why play Roleplaying Games?

Because it’s fun! It’s a unique way to experience stories and a great social activity.

How can I get started?

Our members are always willing to teach new players. We hold regular fortnightly roleplaying sessions throughout the year that are open to new players – you can see more info on our regular sessions page. We also hold four conventions that feature various one-shot roleplaying games, which is a great way to get a taste of different games. These conventions are free and anyone is welcome to attend – you can find more information on our events page.

What is LARP?

Larp stands for Live Action Roleplaying. Instead of sitting around a table, you act out your character’s actions. Some larps feature live combat played out with fake weapons, while others resolve combat abstractly instead. Our club supports larping as well as tabletop roleplaying – we usually try to have at least one campaign larp (see regular sessions for more info) and our conventions typically feature a flagship larp.

What else do you do?

We typically have players for just about any form of tabletop gaming, especially board games. The board game industry has grown significantly over the past couple of decades and there is now a wide variety of excellent board games. We have dedicated board game sessions at our conventions and may occasionally host other board gaming events.
